For this piece I reverted back to my comfortable set of mediums as I felt that with a sharpie or any other medium I would be unable to give her mask the right amount of detail I wanted. Using watercolour to blend the colouring to resemble burnt skin and a simple wash of black for her hooded robe I really wanted the mask to be the main focus of the image. I think I achieved this through the blue of her eyes, and the large patch of colour, the burnt skin, showing through the large piece taken out of her mask. Overall I do think this is a success, and I think it will look good next to the less detailed images prepared for the Mind Map wall. If I was to do it again I would use acrylic for her robes as I think a flat black would work really well in making the mask and skin stand out.
