Kimathi Donkor Artist Talk

A figurative oil painter, Donkor’s main theme is the uneasy relationships between black people and the authorities/police. He uses his own personal experiences, as well as stories of others within his paintings. He draws on anti traditional subject matters for his portraitures, and uses recurring themes seen in post Renaissance work, and portraits and sculptures from Egyptian art and Nigerian culture.
